Our Programs and Services
The Dare to Dream Grant was established to provide women with an opportunity to enrich their personal and professional lives. Five grants‚ in the amount of $1‚000 each‚ are presented to local women each year in March to help make their dreams come true.
The Elaine Bromfield Memorial Scholarship empowers women in financial need with the courage and determination to pursue educational training that will lead towards self-sufficiency. It is awarded to women residing in Warren County, age 20 and over. The educational scholarship is presented annually during the Dare to Dream grant cycle.
The Women’s Resource Breakfasts are co–sponsored by the FRWRC and the Chamber of Commerce. These semi–annual breakfasts provide a meeting and networking opportunity for women in the community.
Voices of Valley Women is a writer’s forum featuring original writing by area women. Writing is in any genre (fiction‚ non–fiction‚ poetry‚ essay‚ letter) and is published in our newsletter and on our website. The project also includes the production of an oral history video tape featuring women who have affected the history of Warren County.
A Monthly Radio Program is produced by the FRWRC on the first Thursday of each month. The program titled‚ The Valley Women Today‚ features interviews with interesting people and organizations in Warren County showcasing topics and issues of interest to women. We can be found on WFTR radio‚ at 1450AM or WZVR 95.3FM‚ on the first Thursday of every month from 12:30 to 1:00 PM.
WomanGatherings are informational and inspirational evenings intended to nurture the womanspirit in each of us. Gatherings have included three part series on women’s spirituality‚ alternatives for women’s health‚ financial management‚ peace making and creativity.
The Library Book Donation Program co–sponsored with Royal Oak Bookshop‚ provides books of interest to women to Samuels Public Library on a monthly basis.
Special Events have included the Front Royal Heritage Celebration that marked the 150–year anniversary of women’s rights‚ the fund raiser for the Forensic Nurse Examiners Program at Warren Memorial Hospital and the poetry workshop and evening performance with award winning poet, Patricia Johnson.
Voter Education and Registration is sponsored by the FRWRC during election years. We sponsor voter registration booths and co–sponsor candidate forums to assist women and their families to cast educated votes.
